New year, new I-really-need-to-workout guilt. If you’ve already broken your commitment to going to the gym every morning, don’t despair. Some of us do much better working out from the comfort of our own living room (or garage) than we do trekking to the gym. Luckily, there’s a streaming workout for that. Or, should we say, hundreds!
We sifted through a whole host of online workouts to see which ones resonated best with us (which also happen to be the ones we think will resonate best with you too, our LonoLife family). Here are our top five.
PELOTON APP: $13/month
Great value. No equipment is needed.
No, you don’t need an expensive bike to benefit from the wide range of workouts Peloton offers – they have a great app available to everyone. Stream everything from Pilates classes, meditation, stretching, running, and of course, cycling. What we love most about Peloton is the sheer amount of choice it offers. There are short classes, intro classes, expert classes, and live classes. You also get to select an instructor that you like or join an active challenge (where you can compete with fellow Peloton subscribers). It’s also great value for money. Boom!
YOGA FOR EVERYONE: $15/month
Literally a yoga class for everyone
Are you wanting to dip your toe in the yoga pool this year? Perhaps you’re an experienced yogi who would like to try some new flows? Either way, the name of this streaming channel couldn’t indicate its value proposition better – it truly is yoga for everyone. We liked how you can choose between a mellow 10-minute yoga practice, a 21-day challenge, or even a yoga HIIT class. Even better, you can try it for free for two weeks to see if it’s right for you. What are you waiting for?!
ADAPTIV: $15/month
Especially great for runners
Lose weight? Run faster? Get stronger? Which goal will you pick when signing up for Adaptiv? You can even narrow your focus further by selecting the kind of music you like to work out to and how long you ideally like to workout. Then Adaptiv does its magic and helps refine your workouts according to your preferences and goals. With audio as well as video offerings, this is a particularly great service for runners. Also, you’ll never run out of workouts because with thousands of them (and more being added all the time), you have choices. And choices, and choices, and choices…
DAILY BURN: $20/month
Offers a 30-day free trial
If you like that community feeling but aren’t so keen on going to an actual studio, then the Daily Burn could be a good option for you. With daily live workouts at 9am EST, you can join people from around the country as they work out from their homes, and you can even drop into the live chat room to connect with others during the workout period. There are a ton of additional on-demand workouts, of course, for those who prefer to pick the time of day they want to run, practice yoga, do a HIIT workout, and more. But it seems like this is definitely a winner for those looking for that community vibe.
GROKKER: $15/month
Has a pain relief fitness class and a nutrition section
Like most of the streaming workout channels we reviewed, Grokker has plenty of choices when it comes to at-home workouts. But what we like about this particular program is that it also offers a cooking section with recipes and education. Another great feature is the ability to build a workout calendar, to keep organized and plan ahead. It also offers “Weight-loss yoga” classes and pain relief fitness classes. We’ve not tried either of those yet but we are intrigued…
No matter how you approach to exercise this new year, just know that something is better than nothing (hello, 10 minute workout classes), and that consistency is king and queen.
Oh, and don’t forget to refuel smartly afterward with an Immune-Supporting Smoothie With Collagen.
